Good, they have removable cables. The fit (when worn) might look weird though

quite expensive, better go straight customs for the price. ;D

I like the look, and the removable cable appears to pivot just like the one on the Shure SE535. It only seems to be a single driver dynamic though, made with some newfangled "liquid crystal polymer film" (marketing BS alert). I thought Senn was pushing it before, asking for $400ish when the IE8 first launched, but Sony is really testing the limits of the market here with that steep $700+ intro price.

Heh, that's too much to expect from a universal. Having heard Marvin's JH16, I'm fairly certain no other universal can beat its highs reproduction.

We'll just have to wait for early adopter impressions on these from head-fi I guess.

there is always a reason why they priced it at $700+
lets wait for the reviews before making any impulse purchase

I'd say it does, at its time. I liked them quite a bit when I demo'd. Not as much as I liked the ER4 though. The treble was a bit too harsh. There is a slight v-curve, but the bass reached pretty low, yet lacked in impact.

But they were released in like 2007 right? There wasn't much to compare to other than the TF10, SE530, and ER4 then.

Right.

Sony has made some of the greatest headphones in history (R10, 010 Qualia) and even their current high end offerings are pretty good (SA5000, and the recently deceased Cd3K). Not to mention the timeless classic the MDR-V6/7506 and loads of other good headphones through the years (MDR-F1, Eggos, etc). No reason to believe they couldn't come up with a very good competitor to the IEM wars.

picture taken by Samsung Galaxy Nexus

at last they've arrived!

ipod classic (2009) >ex1000 (EQ flat)> sony medium noise isolation tips

Bass: is perfect for me, now i don't need the bass reducer EQ on these. the bass is neither light or heavy, the bass is still lesser than an EQed fx700. they maybe on par or slightly more than the shure 535s in bass quantity but never lacking in any type of song.. extends deeper but sounds light

Mids: top noctch! clarity and transparency is very good and very similar to the mids of um3x (atleast in my ears) the details are still there but the transparency is more noticeable and prominent than the fx700s but also thinner

Highs: now, some may or mat not like the highs on this as they sound they're almost everywhere in the song.. the highs sound more textured and carries a lot of sparkle than the fx700s and is more extended and also the weight.. they are also granier then the fx700s

the sound stage is very spacious, open and airy and also is more on left right separation and renders details slightly better than the fx700s but when it comes to strings the fx700s still has it as the ex1000s sound lighter with its transparency and clarity..

i use the noise isolation tips because the hybrids make it very open and poorer isolation than the fx700s so the details are almost inaudible to me..

I think my fx700s will be on the FS after a while, coz i can't have 2 DDs at the same time and it will just be a competition between the two.. so i may look or trade if possible to a BA phone

I think you're the first to have that in the country (That I've heard of)

Did you get the US version or the Japan version? (The cables are EX600 on the US version)
If it looks bad CF it, If it sounds bad DENKO it!
