I used to say everyone should have at least 1 Grado, now I say everyone should have at least 1 Beyer. My current favorites lol.

First thing I thought when I saw the 'Tesla Technology' in the box was

 ;D

Grats on the new cans! And more 'secret weapon' reveals please  8)
The brushed metal feel is awesome, but the LCD-2 is better. :o

Not gonna upgrade gears for a while... ::)

My first major headphones was a Beyer 880 and its airy and detailed presentation matched perfectly with classical music. How's the soundstage of the T50P's? This would be like the ATHESW10Jpn portable version of Audio Technica's big cans. Congrats.

I don't remember saying that phrase... :P lol...

Mind you the wiring might be from Tesla himself - kind of thin so worried I might accidentally yank it  :o

yeah I would agree, more of a crystal glass than a builders mug - it does feel high end, coloring it right now out of my s9 with BBE2 Viva and pushing good bass out it now.

I am actually thinking it prefers my s9 to my laptop setup - again the uDAC might be making it a mess out of the tonal qualities my cans when connected to the macbook on windows 7.

maybe switch to osx for more testing as it behaves in OSX :)

Sound stage I would say is bigger then most if not all cans in this portability class, probably more so than HD25 from memory which is what tipped me on this over the HD25 - though still after a HD25 as a bed buddy with the T50P.

driving well now on my s9 now at 32ohms ;)

must mention the mids may... and this is subject to debate as we go on - be slightly recessed on the s9.

Soundstage is tricky for portables more so with closed cans. This is why i had to let the ESW10 go. That and also because i couldn't do much more to tweak the sound because it didn't scale up significantly with added amplification. How does the T50P sound amped and unamped?

well on my amped setup (macbook - nudac and macbook udac to little dot 2) it did just fine no problems at all, though  a little hot on the treble - I think this is the uDAC influence.

On the cowon s9 the bass was more prominent using BBE and much punchier - can be driven quite easily by the cowon (32 ohm can).

Mids I think suffered using the cowon, but only marginally so - worth a few more tests though since I have only done 2 hours to date.

Congrats! I guessed right  ;D

your right, this is not a colored bass happy fun can - after all it is built in Germany lol.. but it handles those finer moments with so much ease and clarity.

The DT770 and vintage DT990 cry in shame of your negligence towards it.  ;)

I like the linen look of the metal. How big are they? They look like ear crushers.

wow. I think there's a silent race between mochan and marcus. The most gears acquired by the end of the month wins!

hehe 325i and d 3 tomorrow... but then I will be an audio monk of sorts until April 2011 when Mingo's shop in HK and 50k awaits  ;D

yeah I know, will get round to it eventually lol... I had the chance for the 880's, I believe Erwin's pair but the strange headband he had on it just stopped me from picking out the wallet allowing a HD595 to creep in and steal 1st spot instead, but that was in March haha...

they are really not that big to be honest, I will put it against something tomorrow evening to show scale.

Nope, very comfy, shape kind of nice and decent seal on the ears  ;D

Erwin's was actually a DT770 2005 (now in my possession, sans the leather steering wheel headband). I also added a DT880 since then which you can compare the T50p to. Maruzen has both the DT880 600 and the DT990 600 as well.

Just hope I can go to the next meet  :-\

The Premium, balanced, DT770 is probably a better comparo than the bassy Pro. Maybe it can run with its bigger (literally) brothers! That would certainly be impressive.
