FR is about V shaped, they are a bright indeed FWIR. :)
The way our bro  posts is akin to a caffein overloaded Energizer Bunny on steroids who suddenly decided to pop speed pills while downing a dozen bottles of Red Bull! ;D

westone 3 has piercing highs.  personally i find them to be very sibilant.
i guess their FR was exaggerated because at their time of release, they were marketed as upgrades for casual ipod listeners.

im already planning to jump on this IEM.. my only prob now is when there will be stock here in my place...

Dear Jimmy,

Have you ever thought of buying a new earphone is more relevant to the word upgrade than replacing your stock cable?

Joni

The more I read about reviews for UM3X, the more poison gets to my system, itching me to buy them. I got to audition them way back last year during the meet a sir ken's place and was WOW'ed (as in Coco Martin WOW'ed, j/k!) by how this IEM sounds. I can still recall the instrument separation and imaging prowess that made a lasting impression on me. Would love to listen to it again on meets, so that I can refresh my memory and hopefully decide to invest on such a beauty of an IEM. As a present owner of SoundMAGIC PL50, will this be a considerable upgrade or do I have better options? Thanks! :)

A logical step up from the PL50 would be the top tier Shure IEMS (SE530/535) since they have the same sound signature and luscious mids which are unmatched. Judging by reviews, the Jphonic K2 is another option for the PL50 upgrade.

However if you are looking for the separation and imaging then there is no other IEM which does it better than the UM3x :) the mids are awesome as well but they are more analytical instead of lively and luscious like the Shure
If it looks bad CF it, If it sounds bad DENKO it!

Quite a tempting choice, though I have mixed feelings for it. As much as I love to get immersed in the smooth, silky, flowing mids, I also want to have the bass thump that can make my heart skip and head bob in delight. Though I would love to audition them both and set my preferences straight. :D

Necro-ing thread :)

I've been listening to the UM3X for a couple of days now. And I think most of the people mentioned this already. The UM3X is a good IEM and thats it! yeahhhhhhhhhhh and this is my impression im pro now!

Anyways, the first thing I've noticed that the UM3x is like an IEM that sounds like a headphone to me. It has a neutral sound, and awesome instrument separation for an IEM, although I only heard some IEMs like SE530/535, SM2/3, IE8, Golds/Coppers, TF10, etc., the UM3X has the best instrument separation and detail to all of those I tried before. Not to mention detail and clarity is top notch as well.

The UM3X's bass is enough for me since I am not really a basshead and as alot of people said, BA drivers doesn't really produce alot of bass. Bass is tight, and extension goes deep but not too deep for me because it gets kinda distorted when used at higher volumes. SM2/3 s bass has more body/punch when compared to the UM3X if I were to compare it. I did not compared it to IE8/copper/golds since it is obvious.

Mids are very much balanced. Not too forward but not too laidback. It is very precise in producing sound within the midrange spectrum as well. Although I need to concentrate or listen carefully if I want to hear those microdetails (parts of the song or instruments that has low volume) in order to hear it. Nevertheless, the mids is clean and musical, if they have different meaning.

I think the area that shines in the UM3X is the highs--- since this is the part where you actually hear and feel how awesome is the instrument separation it produces. Thus, creating a very clean and detailed treble. Treble is not hot or aggressive unlike the TF10, even sibilant recordings doesn't sound sibilant at all with the UM3X which is a very good thing. I am no way experienced with monitoring and I don't know if the UM3X is made for recording and monitoring, but I think if the recorded song is sibilant, the headphone/iem is supposed to be sibilant so that they would know that the recording has flaws. But when enjoying or listening to music, the UM3x is great-- that is all what I can say.

Speaking of detail, it is really detailed when the UM3X is plugged in to your ears while eating. You hear the peanuts being grinded with your teeth when you munch it. You can also hear what you are eating when you swollow them, those gulps when you drink water, you can clearly hear yourself when you breathe and speak even if you just mumble, yada yada etc..

The only gripe for the UM3X is that I can't move much face/head muscles that much unlike when wearing headphones. I'm not sure if the tips (the UM3X is using Shure Olives) is the problem or the tips is really inserted deep into my ears. If I raise my jaw (like yawning) the bass would be reduced to 0, if I look left or right, one channel will lose its bass as well.

This pretty much wraps up my noob impressions with the UM3X. Not to mention bro Kalikot is selling this for 3k only---- without the drivers. 8)

haha! very good impressions bro and quite the detailed description, I dont think I can explain your headphone that well LOL.

I love the UM3x, the best part is the comfort and isolation for me which means I can survive the boom boom jeeps and enjoy very clear and detailed music along the way 8)
