"We're told that the Amperior will sell for $350, and it'll hit shelves along with the HD700 this March."

Woah. This better be a really big upgrade if Sennheiser's selling it at that price.

Closed and portable.. *two thumbs up* for this but yaaaah, how I agree with azathoth that they should've kept the black... the silver and blue are... hmm... not making it look $350-ish for my taste. Maybe i'll run to sforza for spray paint services, haha! Or have it wood-ified by Racio  8)

The velours are definitely a welcome surprise though! But the asking price SHOULD provide velours or high end leather anyway. I will wait for the first impressions of our very own headphilers whoever gets their hands on one... P15,000 ain't cheap though considering the DT150 was only 12,000 with shipping...  :(

the old hd25's have the velour pads, just don't know if they've upgraded the quality of that pad :))

I always read the words "old drivers" when it comes to the HD-25-1 II and all the associated things it doesn't have as opposed to newer drivers, i wonder if they revamped that  ::)
Desktop->Fiio E10->Sennheiser HD600
Ipod Nano 3G->Superlux HD661

Razer Lycosa Mirror | Razer Mamba 4G | Razer Megasoma |

good thing i haven't bought  hd25-1 ii yet.  more time to save for this. :)   the cable with an integrated smart remote is a terrific addition.  wonderful news for ipad/iphone users like me.  products like this justify why sennheiser is no. 1

Tyll recommended this over the Fidelio L1, which is said to be really really good. (Still no response from that rep that said I could have a pair...) Some have said the L1 is a bit better than the Z1000, and while the Amperior will sound completely different, judging from the fact that Senn said they tried to make the Amperior sound the same as the HD25, it's still compelling. Just hoping that the price drops quickly like with the HD598.

The aluminum earcups aren't just for show. The entire earcups are made of aluminum. And apparently it sounds much better. Oh boy, this is tempting.

I have a strong hunch we might see this at the new senn store in ghills - wishful thinking but the word is that the stock will run deeper with better range when it opens :)

LOL they were reviewed with the hd25 using pleather pads and the ampherior using velour pads. It makes the comparison invalid. I would laugh my arse off if they sounded almost spot on identical if both use the same pads.
