The new Sennheiser HD700
« on: December 07, 2011, 09:20:18 PM »

A first look at what could possibly be a new high-end Sennheiser headphone has been showcased. From first examination, it appears to share some genes with both the HD600/650 line and the flagship HD800 model. It also looks to be an open-backed design as many of the top Sennheiser models have been.

Price is estimated between $600 and $800 USD

It looks like an hd558/hd800 hybrid

If that thing sounds like a HD650 with a bigger soundstage then I'm sold. :)
The way our bro  posts is akin to a caffein overloaded Energizer Bunny on steroids who suddenly decided to pop speed pills while downing a dozen bottles of Red Bull! ;D

^I'm with you on that one. Hopefully no paint chipping, eh? HD750 perhaps?

An HD600 sound with the refinements and soundstage of an HD800 is all I want.

Not as such yet bro, I think this will come shortly. The price point is interesting but the $500 $800 market is now getting very congested.

There.... thats what I want too. But maybe more slam and upfront factor ala Grado. Combining the soundstage and the upfront factor may be an oxymoron though LOL Okay let it have a good transient response ala Grado but still maintain a good soundstage. Forget the upfront factor :D

Yes, transparency and clarity of HD800 but lessen the soundstage a bit, and a little more bass body.

My guess is at 700 USD, it should compete well with HE500.
we remember, we forget.

If this can would sound similar to the T1 but with the HD800's extremely deep trademark soundstage, I reckon I'll be sold... then again, this might be asking too much already at this price point. hehe

So they moved away from the Orpheus/HD580/HD600/HD650 styling for this one. Looks like someone squeezed the HD800 earcups into an HD558 frame.  :o

But yeah, it's going to be tough to go up against the HE-500 at this price range.

Uhm, I don't believe deep cavernous soundstage and the HE500 can be used in just one sentence bro. That's unless Fang completely redesigns the shell and move the drivers way forward similar to what Senn has done on their HD800.

No word yet on what the HD700 can will sound like so it could just as well be veiled and bassy for all we know :)

Shure 1840 -vs- Sennheiser 700.  The battle of the century.  The rumble in the jungle.  The thrilla in Manila.
