Hello Everyone. I recently purchased a Hi-Sound Audio Popo from Dinkoy and I have it couple of days now. I couldn't resist this poisonous promo. The Promo was a Popo woody and a AMP3M DAP/AMP for 3k. I haven't seen any Woody IEM this cheap. Cheapest Ive seen were the JVC's Woody but still they cost around 7-8k I think. And What's awesome is Hi-sound audio gave a freebie PAA-1 Earbud for the promo. Awesomeness! I think its only available for the 1st batch. Too bad for the 2nd batch. Boo to that... But anyway, Still this is a very good deal because I think the Popo retails around 3k+. And the AMP3M DAP/AMP Cost around 2.5k. This is definitely a bang 4 the buck deal. Anyway lets head on to the review.

I was told that woody IEM is more on the warm side. I'm not a basshead dude And I was hopping this popo wont go on the bassy side. But more on warm mids and laid back sounding. I had them properly burned in ever since I got them. And I often compare them to my favorite IEM the Shure SE530. SE530 is more neutral and I use them to easily detect any coloration on the popo. I used the AMP3M for the test and also my desktop Audio GD NFB11 Sabre 32 DAC/AMP.

Build Quality/Looks:1st of all before I miss this, I kinda like the packaging of this Hi-sound audio popo and Amp3m. They Look Nice on the acrylic case and they look very sturdy as well. Simplicity is class! The Popo Woody looks nice and you can really see the wood stains are real. Also Red cables looks very attractive. Just like beats IEM red cables. The cables also are very sturdy and they wont tangle easily. The plastic part that's connecting between the cable and woody is made of hard plastic. It wont easily brake if you accidentally pulled them. Even the Y splitter is made of hard plastic. They included lots of ear tips with different shapes. Good job hi-sound Audio for this extra sets of ear tips. Overall a solid build.
Comfort:Nice and soft to the ears. I would say they are light and makes my ears feel relax while I lay down. Better comfort than my Shure SE530. I used the stock ear tips. The medium size. I have a small ear canal. I wear them longer than my Shure SE530.
Isolation:Isolate very well. better isolation than my SE530. I wear them outdoors when traveling. even With out music they block noise moderately. Turn on the music and your on another world.lol
Bass:The moment I put them on. Immediately I notice the powerful bass this popo pumps! They don't go muddy. And Yes! they punch and goes deep as well. the bass wont disturb other frequency except maybe on the mid-bass. If you to listen to it with katy parry - teenage dream. You will understand how massive the bass this Popo have. They are not tight as my SE530 but they are loud and wide. Im not a basshead but I would say Im impress on the popo bass department. This Popo bass section is colored but its really fun to hear some pop song. Makes them sound musical. Id like to test them side by side with the m50 someday.
Mids:Mids are warm and laid back. Just as I expected to be. They are not dark as well. Mids are smooth and breathy. Moderate speed and decay. Sometimes it goes muffled due to its powerful bass but this will depend on a track or recording you selected.
Hi'sHi's are warm but sometimes goes edgy. Edgyness will go away because of again the powerful bass. Don't worry it will just be on a selected recording you will notice edgyness of this hi's. You will still hear sparkling trebles beneath this massive bass.
Vocals:Moderate and smooth. They are definitely veiled and lose focus to me because they are overshadowed by the powerful bass. I listen to Adele - "take it all", her voice seems to be congested here and its nothing to go worried about. I'm just used to hear Adele voice on my Stax and Shure SE530. And I preferred it that way.
Soundstage:Yeah. Its not too big, just enough. You will sense the airyness with the popo. Soundstage goes well with the bass slams. Its quite actually fun with the bass expanding and the airy mids goes with it.

Conclusion:Hi-Sound Audio made a wonderful woody IEM. Not to mention its good looks with the red cables. A eye catcher indeed. Bass is powerful but what i liked about this bass is that they goes well with the mids and trebles. Always been a heater for bassy types of IEM but this popo signatures definitely surprised me. It does not belong to the hi-end or the articulate type of IEM. But rather it belongs to the mainstream market with the musical presentation which some of the common people find them to be enjoyable to listen. What I hoped for Hi-Sound Audio for their next woody IEM is that they should try to focus more on the mids and vocal section. Lessen the bass would be great. Overall I highly recommend this for all types of audio lover. They definitely a fun IEM to listen to. Bass lovers might fall inlove.hehe
