How does this compare though with the m50's?

not really worth it at the MSRP. You can get the AD900 (more refined, actually has bass) for that same amount shipped.

They couldn't be any more of the opposite of the M50. The AD700 is open, airy, wide, weightless, comfortable, bass-light

...and purple.

+1 on the soundstage, since the M50 is much more like the ATH-700MK2, the AD700 is much more laid back IMO... I like the AD700 more than the MK2.

And that P9,900 price is a bit too much I think...

Odd comparison you've got going there.  The SR60 is aggressive in general, compared to the laid-back nature of the AD-700.  I wouldn't use the term "light" (well, I'm not a bass head), but let's just say they're more controlled than the SR60.  Extension is there, but it's not anything near thumpy IMO.

Yeah sorry, i only have the SR60i to compare and my old MDR-7505 that i use for DJing back in the day.

I really like the "in your face" of the Grado but im looking for something different ( music, film, game)  so im looking at the ATH AD-700 or the ATH AD-900 or save more for the HD650.

well, in newbie terms, you can call it "bass light" for them to understand easily rather than to give them complicated terms that will put a big question mark on their faces :)

IMO the ad700/900 won't really work out for movies unless you also have a subwoofer installed infront of you to "feel" the explosion and vibration effects on movies. You can pretty much imagine using an AD700 in an action movie and when explosions start popping out... youll just hear something like a spoon hitting a tincan very hard.
