Superlux HD662F
« on: October 19, 2011, 11:04:36 AM »
I just received my 662F and first thing I can say is that these sound more expensive than a closed can at the P2000 price range is expected to sound. The bass is great, mids are clear, but why oh why does the highs have to sound k701ish aaarrrghhh. the overall sound reminds me a little of the fischer fa-003. In fact I may like these slightly more than those. Hopefully these highs improve over time because everything else about them sounds balanced.

In a coin, its not heads vs tails, but its to TOSS or not.

Perhaps recabling will do wonders? I'm torn between this and the 668B

I am wondering what their differences are myself. I don't believe superluxes graphs saying that the headphones have the same measurements as some branded cans because these for example sound nothing like the shures.

After an hour or so of burn in with some loud music, the highs have gotten less wild. Its still bright but less ringy. Interesting. I hope this goes on like this. very interesting cans for the price indeedy :)

They look nice by the way. Now that they have gotten less wild they are starting to remind me of the HE6 sound sig. Closed Back HE6 for P2000 LOL

HE6 crossed with an M50 in tonality is the closest thing i can think of right now when trying to think of how these sound.  The speed signature feels like the fischer fa-003 a bit too. Without the bright upper mid to low treble, these could be giant killers. The 662B doesn't have the hollowness of the fa-003 though and has better mids than the AT m50s. Of course it can't beat the he6 hehehe but they do remind me of that type of sound :)

Have you given the HD660s a try too, don? I feel that the HD662Fs, the HD668Bs and the HD660s are the giant killers of superlux!  :o

Why are they cheaper than HD661?

probably because of the less shiny plastics :) Superlux cans are almost all the same price.

Good point. :)

I better hold off buying 661. Need to make sure I get some comparisons between superlux headphones.

662Fs are huge!!!
I haven't dared to use this outdoors since I'd really look like an alien or a robot and all eyes would be on this gigantic pair of portable speakers on my head. Geez. I usually listen to my headphones in the office, not a home. So these babies get less airtime. Too bad. :(
