^Not unless you like the sound sig and you are willing to pay for his workmanship - which I think pretty much explains the price.

BTW, where's the link to the review?

This is debatable but here is my gut instinct on Thunderpants.

better than stock? Sure it is, but $500? After listening to Sherwin's I would not think so to be honest. It maybe a western labor of love price but locally it could be duplicated for far less given our talent at disposal.

Not just duplicated Marcus. You saw the shoddy craftsmanship in how the cut belt was attached to the headband, how the pads were sloppily glued to the cups, and the frail-looking wires that went out of each cup.  We have modders here who could do a far better job.

But likewise, I don't want people to think that I am just blindly bashing the TPs. There are people who will appreciate its sound. And truth be told, we have a legion of people who love the M50 here. To put things into perspective, I think the TPs sound better than the M50. But to me, they don't sound (or look) $400 better than the M50, and let's remember that they do cost $400 more than the M50s do.

Now, we can't really tell people how much to price a certain anything.

To be honest, the LCD2 at $1000 is also pretty overpriced. But to me it was worth that price, so I didn't mind paying it. The sound was what I wanted it to be. The wood work and the leather work were excellent. Detachable cables? Check. All in all it was worth that much to me.

The TPs just weren't worth their asking price for me.  But I can't make that decision for everyone. You'll have to really figure out for yourself if it is really worth it.

@Mochan: the TP I was able to audition was Sher's pair, right after he took delivery of them from Smeggy I believe.

Pads glued to the TPs?! *facepalm*

It makes sense actually. Smeggy might not want people seeing his damping scheme, and it helps with the airtight seal.
The formula of headphone ownership satisfaction is oH = n+1, where "oH" is the optimal number of headphones you need and "n" is the number of headphones you currently own.

^Heehee, that TP goes to Asia - it will be opened for sure ;D But we already know why it was glued tight ;)
In our case, we can just use reusable adhesive anytime. The BluTak on my T50s are working like a charm.

Well, he's been really open with the TP mods, but he eventually got annoyed by people using his ideas to make a lot of money. I doubt his damping is esoteric and couldn't be improved by some dedicated people with a ton of different materials. And again, the best seal possible, so in theory, it should give the most (and deepest) bass. I doubt that the O2 pads, being as they are made for an open headphone, are ideal for a closed headphone, but I can't really have an opinion either way because I haven't heard a Smeggy TP.

I wonder what to think of the H2 review though. I've always wanted a pair.

Someone said the O2 pads are better than the Shure840 pads. But I can't be bothered, O2 pads are more expensive than the T50s! O_o While I'm (just) using Php35 * 2 pads ;D I really don't care about looks specially when the price is ridiculous (at least for me).
Oh yeah, that O2 pads' another + on the TP price o_O.

That's the reason why I don't look at graphs... Anyway, I'll try to make a complete review of the TP's soon since a lot of intrigue came after that headfi episode.
I never really did put out much word in these cans. I think mochan is still the most vocal about these but rightfully so as well!! Haha! I spent about close to a month listening to them and I'm sure I very much still remember how they sound  :)
