i dont know if posting links is really allowed (im currently reading the rules as i post this) but id like to know which artists albums or songs you really enjoy on grados (and not on other headphones).

at the moment, im enjoying ambient Drum N Bass on the grado sr60i. it really brings out the ethereal feel of the music.

Makoto - Voices

Makoto - Feels like Heaven

LTJ Bukem - Watercolours

Tracks from talented multi instrumentalist Jakub Zytecki also shine through the grados. his ambient/metal pieces just benefit from the clarity. by the way he's only 18 years old.

Jakub Zytecki - euphoria

id love to hear your recommendations guys.

Leona Lewis songs. You can hear Leona breath on you while belting.
Certain Chris Daughtry songs.

cool think you like DnB, they are nice.
but how about dubstep, any feedback on how dubstep sounds on grados?

dubstep is ok but the point of dubstep is for the sub bass. though you could still hear it on the sr60i, the playful hats and the upper grind of the wobble bass takes center stage. it gets tiring after a while. i actually prefer using (oem) beats when listening to dubstep because thats what the music is about anyway. lows lows lows.

listening to dubstep with the grados made me feel like the loser near the speaker with beer in hand staring at chicks grinding each other.

another great sounding record with the grados:

Four Year Strong - It must suck to be Four Year Strong right now
youtube dot com/watch?v=oeGGlHQfsU0

really bright track but somehow manages to avoid the problem areas of the grado (whistling 2khz range). the album sounded pretty detailed but punchy. so far this is the best sounding recording ive heard on the grado. and i actually found myself appreciating this band a bit more because of it.

edit: for the first time i HEAR the bass guitar on this album. not the low rumble. but the upper grit and nasal low mid around 400hz. nice.

if i could sum it up in a word: crispy. like chilled greens on salad.

From my (limited) experience with Grados, they shine the most with a lot of complex and dynamic metal music such as these two tracks below... well, if that's your thing :P

God, I love that Fleshgod Apocalypse track... ;D

fleshgod sounds awesome. though ive made the same conclusions while listening to between the buried and me's colors live album/dvd

while this band/album sounds absolutely horrible and painful to listen to:

Grados do righteous justice to all manner of guitar-based assault, plus drums and cymbals snap with conviction. Check out the rousing drum intro and crunchy guitar tone on the Immortal song below, Bolt Thrower's primal windmill-inducing grooves, and the seething bile of Samael.

^^^ YES a fellow BM listener! ive been listening to some burzum too. some KVLT recordings actually sound decent on grados for some reason.

other bands ive found enhanced by the grados:
<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WdQFDKB0gig" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WdQFDKB0gig</a>

the layers dont get as mashed together as they did on my senn hd201.

also, azathoth, i dunno if its your thing but ive been listening to this band lately. im currently running the album through its paces on the sr60i and so far i am liking what i hear. i just dont like the genre name.  "suicidal depressive black metal".

<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KGy_hrhCP2M" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KGy_hrhCP2M</a>

i was floored when i heard this though:
<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZdL-wNwXPCg" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZdL-wNwXPCg</a>

the signature "chainsaw guitar tone" from the boss hm2 heavy metal pedal just snarls. its the signature "sunshine studios" sound made famous by swedish death metal bands and swedish crust punk bands during the early 90s.

Awesome thread. Very timely too, since my Grados will (finally) arrive tomorrow afternoon.   ;D

I listen mostly to post-rock, so anything from ASIWYFA, MaybeSheWill, Mogwai, Tortoise(sic) and Jolin are worth hearing on Grados. Also some female jazz / vocal artists like Adele, F+M, A Fine Frenzy, and Melody Gardot. Wanna go local? Get some Razorback. Wolfgang, Sound, Battery, Skychurch, Badburn, the OLD Chico Science, and UDD.

Everything else i listen to that sound great on Grados are outlined above.. and probably will be posted by others since i'm too lazy to look up my iPod. lol
