Hifiman upgraded earpads for HE series headphones :)

Our engineers tried to work with our earpad vendors to provide earpads in a much better quality. We have finished the design, and will try to make several different samples very soon. This process will take about 4 to 8 weeks, and will get two finished product (leather version and cloth version). As soon as we finished, we will release them at our website.

Yup, but not right away for me, too many expenses, thinking of shipping mid-November just to be sure I dont get caught out with a crappy first batch

This is good news for all HE-x owners, leather is a lot easier to clean than velour. Why in the world didn't they think of this at the onset?

Well a lot of headphones dont have leather pads Racio such as the akg K/Q series and LCD-2 does not have velour and some people prefer that

^Velour might be more comfortable, but leather provides better sealing, and therefore lessens the possibility for early bass roll off.

Ordered these pads last Saturday and today they arrived at my house, delivered by FedEx. Great job by Head Direct to get them here so quickly

Now to actually see how they perform

Sure, I'll probably put one up tomorrow. Pad changing is serious business with these things.

I am reading up on this and it says bend the ear pad slightly inwards as  single unit rather than tab by tab as it may break

I have spares naturally but god knows if they are a match or not lol..
