The Klipsch Reference One is also coming out at $180 USD, so those might be competitive even with the price difference.

Nice.  Looks like the image one:

I got to hear the Klipsch Mode noise canceling headphone at a Brookstone store tonight.  It was hooked into a listening station next to a Klipsch Image One (not the Reference One), and I couldn't connect it to my own player.  The sound from the listening station was awful, so I couldn't make any judgements for certain, but switching back and forth on the same track, the Image One had normal brightness and treble, while the Mode headphone was very muted and dull.  The Image One had some lower bass although the sound they played was very bass-light.  The Mode did not have the bass of the Image One.  So all in all, I didn't learn anything except I did get to hold the Mode headphone and wear it (very comfortable aound-ears), and it sounded totally different from the Image One, not in a good way.  If I was Klipsch I would be horrified by that display at Brookstone.

These are now widely available in Power Mac Center stores for P20950 (Ouch!).  Overpriced since these normally cost $350 (even if you add up the tax). Ever since PMCs and iStudio became the sole Klipsch resellers, they just ballooned up in price to think that they only get their supplies from SG which are close in location.  Compared to The Listening Room when they still consistently carry Klipsch products (they are now just depleting their stock since their supplier does not carry them anymore as they've said), they got their stock straight from the US and still sell them here at very competitive reasonable prices.

Anyone, especially those in the States, have properly auditioned these? The noise-cancellation and looks are nice, though I still prefer the subtleness of the Reference One - would like to get that as an alternate substitute in travels or replacement for my black Image One.
