yah if they don't sound practically identical, then you will at least know that the superlux drivers were just EQ'd like the sonys to make them look like that while playing pink noise but the square wave probably differs since the drivers and the pads are not exactly the same on both... unless they really are just the same drivers and have the same casing size.

The pads are quite shallow so your real close to the driver though not touching it aka Grado style.

There is quite a kick though in the mid-bass but will wait until everything calms down a bit tomorrow and put some pink noise through it tonight whilst I zzzzzz

As long as no part of the headphone touches the ear it's a good circumaural can.

Will there be a meet for this? I am desperate to find a circumaural K518 sounding can

Well the 668b is already better than the K518 imo, so if this one is better then it should be on a new level
If it looks bad CF it, If it sounds bad DENKO it!

Also, I think this might just be a personal taste issue because I like the k518 more than the sony V6 for example. Maybe Marcus is just on the honeymoon period right now with these too :)

I honestly didnt find the v7506 enjoyable as well. It was "nasal" and it had a pretty weird midbass hump for me.

I dont expect Superlux to disappoint me with these given their track record

I wont be able to do a comparo with the k518 unless I get a unit of that also lol - but I do have the triple jack ha-3d amp for ab/c'ing now :)

Bear in mind Don I maybe listened to a 518 about once in my life many moons ago so its all fresh to me. I will do the comparo from the listening experience and dump the mumbo jumbo since all are sub $100 cans lol.. who buys sub $100 cans based on FR charts?

It has to sound good though LOL. The cali which was recently reviewed in innerfidelity measured really well for example. They look like they could be $300 cans by looking at the square wave and FR combination.

Doing the ab between a sony 7506 and the superlux - the biggest difference is that the sony is much more recessed and subdued than the 661 which is more forward and aggressive -  I actually think its a tad brighter and sparklier at the top end than the sony and more slam than the sony, perhaps a bit more v shaped. I would say sony has a slightly more refined reproduction but lacks the impact of the 661 which is more musical in that respect.

So far just tested them out with dance music and will move to some more challenging vocal tracks to see how they both perform.

Running them out of the superlux ha-3d amp which has three jacks  :D Ensures I get a totally equal setup.

Comfort factor sony wins hands down but this is the most refined superlux product to date for sure.

Sadly the 661 does not fold but the cups swivel and go flat.
