Superlux HD661 - Professional Monitoring Headphones
« on: August 12, 2011, 09:24:35 PM »
So they arrived, Dinkoy was impressed and so am I. They are still all plastic but the molding is sharper, the pads a higher class and the shape more sleek

I give you the new HD661  :D

It comes complete with a few extension cables, terminated with gold plated 3.5mm and a 1/4 jack add on. Oh and the cable is detachable!

Initial impressions are that its pretty punchy but overall retaining a more neutral tonality (tested with fiio9/e7) and not very fatiguing - does definitely have more monitoring type qualities - Sony MDR's range definitely comes to mind with this. Will burn in some more before giving it the headfonics treatment  :D

Not bad for the price of $...... well now what would you pay for this? :P

Wow, that's one handsome pair of Sluxes. Is this another Slux frenzy I see in the future?  ::)

Yeah looks much better than the rip-offy semi open models. Hopefully sounds great as well.

They are certainly a step up in the evolution chain over the older HD668 type stuff and the pads are better quality though a little shallow.

Yes Don :) will be reviewing these on headfonics.... come on guys anyone wanna guess the price? :P

P2500?

I would say that is pretty close - the official srp is $49.99  :o

This is bang for buck of the highest order!

It will even be more of a bang for the buck if they were available locally at that price without having to pay for shipping like the other superlux models.

They definitely resemble the MDR7506 in the looks department. Pretty excited ;) would be exciting if they sound better than the 7506
If it looks bad CF it, If it sounds bad DENKO it!

If they sound like the sony v6, i'll pass but if they sound more like Dale's $300 shure then that might be really something hehehe

Heck if they can even beat the k518, I'll buy a pair.

That will be happening very soon I believe with 3 distributors vying for the deal to bring them here.

I need to comparo to the sony mdr-7506 and Joma has agreed to lend me his when I meet him to pick up my EVF so enough time to get these burnt in :)

Already that bass is deepening out and the sound is getting fuller. The D1 Mav phone is a better match than the fiio e9/7 but this could be just to burn in. Yet to try it on the other amps so will switch back and forth over a few hours to get a good feel for this.

Yup going for the Sony approach :P

Though I read somewhere the MDR can handle up to 3 watts but the HD661 only 1 watt.... still if you need 1 watt on your ear you need to seek help...

ah, i'll pass then. The sony is only $80 I think. Let us know if it is better than Jomas v6 though. That would be interesting.
