I don't think so, in anything other than name. They seem to be totally different from the regular A-series. I've only read that they're slightly on the bright side with less bass than most of the A-series, and maybe even the AD2000, like an upgraded A900TI (duh). I'd love to hear them, but their price is at the point where the W1000X is more tempting, and nobody around my area has one.
The formula of headphone ownership satisfaction is oH = n+1, where "oH" is the optimal number of headphones you need and "n" is the number of headphones you currently own.

Laptop->EMU 0204->HK430->Beyerdynamic DT48//NaNite N2->Audio Technica ATH-2 or Monster Turbine Pro Gold

I had the AD2000 for a short while and found the mids to be a bit special on them with wonderful airy sq.

Like most ATH at that end of the game the bass is not so dominant.

The A and AD have no resemblance whatsoever in sound except maybe the slight audio technica touch to their sound in the dryness factor. I had a900s and ad900s before for example and they didn't have much in common at all. The mids for example are a little recessed on the a900s and a little boosted on the ad900s. Bass is overblown on the a900 while slightly lean on the ad900s and the treble also sounds totally different to add to that. The hd600s sound much more like a dt48e than an a900 sounds like an ad900 to give you an example :)

I think the ES10 and the A2000X share the same drivers. dunno about the difference in SQ though.
