HD-580
« on: July 30, 2011, 04:14:54 PM »
Guys I dont know if this is too late or what but I'm just a newbie here in  HeadPhiles, I still have my 16yr old HD-580 & I want to do some tinkering w/ this so does anybody here do re-cups or add some improvements to this old school Can.
It has already Cardas cables although ;)

The HD 580 is better than 80% of the headphones in the market today. I wouldn't change anything about it. Cables are probably the most I'd do, lest I change its Senn-type sound.

Or you could change the cups to HD600/650 cups, basically turning it into an HD600 (same drivers and all that).

Actually Ive heard from some people that they like the older 600s more than the new ones. I hope to be able to try your 600s one day Zel to compare with the newer driver ones.

I got my HD580 early this year from Ebay Philippines for 5k.   :D
It's all stock for now but it sounds amazing when paired with my fiio E11.

Where do we get the hd600 grills?

I thought no one like the 580s already coz then came the 600, 650 & the now the 800. I saw one selling at WIREDSTATE @P48k w/ all kinds of Cardas upgrades included. To be honest these are very warm sounding CANS (HD-580) sometimes I feel it sounds better than my Audio System especially w/ jazz music  :)
I bet if this model sounds good, well so much more for the higher models as to my own speculation  ;)

Ah the glorious 580s, it's one of the best headphone's I have owned. Sounds exactly the same as the HD600 I had but I find the 600s better built and lighter. The 580 frame do look better but the grills are lol ugly.

Senn USA website does not have the grills available for purchase.  Where do you think I can possibly get them?
I really enjoy the sound coming from these babies but the grills are just too ugly  ;D

580 for 48k? Wouldn't that be Edric's hd800 with Cardas and not a 580?
