It was shipped straight to Dinkoy when I bought it.
Some good news guys. Now that I got the LCD2 back, Audeze graciously included the new leather headband! So it seems, instead of selling it to me they decided to give it as a complement. I'm very happy, this about makes up for all the headache, lol. I got sick 4 times this last month from stress but it's all behind me now. I'll have to thank Sankar and Alex for the gesture.
It seems I got the R2. I instantly noticed this is the R2 because:
1. It's lighter than my old R1
2. The leather headband
3. The earpads aren't as nice as the older ear pads. Hard to describe, but the older one had a nicer texture to the earpads.
4. Sound is also noticeably different. Sounds more open. More sparkle in the mids and highs. Same low end extension and detail. But the creaminess in the mids is gone. I kinda miss it.
In addition, the wood is different, this is clearly a different batch, the wood is slightly darker than my old batch. Not as dark as Racio's but more brown than my last one, which was kind of beige-ish already.
All in all... I'm conflicted over the R2. I don't know if I like it better. It does some things better than the R1 from memory, but it's lacking something in the mids that I miss very much. It doesn't really sound like a Senn HD650 anymore. I remember the old R1 was like an HD650 on steroids. This one no longer feels like it's in the HD650 family, it's kind of different.
I hope cdarcc will bring his R1 sometime so we can do an AB and really get the dirt on the differences.
