It's been said before, but it definitely needs to be repeated.  Once you adjust the DT-48 for the perfect fit and best seal, you should not start the music right away.  It takes a couple of minutes for them to get the critical seal to your head.  Then if you're a fan of strong bass, forget it.  You don't even wanna go there.  But if you doubt the bass is there, try some test tones.  It's there all right.  Doesn't make sense, I know.

Come to think of it, once you get used to the midrange of the DT-48 and realize the difference in the bass compared to the HD-600, then you know why people pay $1500 for the big rigs, so they get both.

I guess we have a new entry in the senn comparison crowd here. Lehboy is sending me his old version hd650s to compare against the new hd650 and my hd600. That would be an interesting comparison I think. Once and for all the old vs new mystery will be solved in casa donunus :)

Noted. I will definitely try this first and many other ways of listening like I do with any headphone I try.

If you can find the serial numbers, maybe we could find the manufacturing dates from those, since the mfg. date is the key.  I know there are sites that track those things.

The serial numbers are on the box so hopefully his are still on them. With these senns though, the distinct change in the drivers are easily visible.

ahh the flaking headband. That I am not sure about. Maybe thats due to the type of paint used. I'm not sure if that was also changed but my previous hd600 didn't have that problem.

HD600 Burn in Update...

I didn't count the hours this time since I wasn't giving these cans a time limit before achieving a certain performance level before selling them :) Anyway, The sound has become a little more forgiving and is now richer even with bad recordings. Nice! I'd also like to add that I am using the Head-Lite Xfeed plugin at stock setting which is a great match for them IMO
