Amazing bass (quality and quantity) coming from Archos 70>MDR-7550 - it's like having a stereo REL sub inside my head!

It is indeed a wonderful experience. These are wonderful IEMs. Where the DBA-02 spoiled me with treble detail, the MDR7550s are spoiling me with clean, articulate and detailed bass. It is so balanced that it was able to handle Garbage's Ver2.0 album gracefully. The Bass!!!

The GR07 is like the dynamic sibling to the W4 to my ears, luco... Actually, I would say it's a three-way tie, but if I had to give one the edge in pure enjoyment it would be the GR07. Technically it would go to the W4. Details in 3-D sound would go to the 7550. Each one has something I enjoy about it more than the other. Drums hands down is the Vsonic.

Oh my....oh my....OH MY!! It's official, there is three-way between the GR07, W4 and 7550 as my favorite universal IEMs. I can't honestly say which one I like better than the other at this point. Each one has its own unique characteristic that make me like it a little bit more than the other two when I'm listening to that particular IEM. So it's a wash...

But the 7550 has a space, clarity, refinement and details in the mids that's not like any other universal I've heard. To me this is what the the SM3's mids should have sounded like (much less congested but forward with fantastic instrument separation). I love the EX600, but will get no listening time now. Luckily a a friend is checking them out, and I may loan them out if I don't sell them soon. I have about 100 hours on the 7550 now and it satisfies my ears in ways I just couldn't get from the EX600 or it's bigger and great detailed brother, the EX1000. Well done Sony (although I dear not use any one of the Sony dynamic IEMs outside the house without the Zo..... The GR07 and W4 - with Earportz tips- do not need the Zo).

I covered the vents with blu-tak and bass response increased by tenfold, as expected. still detailed and doesn't muddy the mids as far as i can tell. and it lessens the upper midrange and treble too!

funny thing is when i crank up the volume starting from 1/3 to max, the bass stays the same except that it gets a bit distorted when the volume is at 4/5 to max. and when the volume is at 3/4 to max, the treble comes back again while maintaining its mids, and bass.

i like 8)

used t51 as a source, no amp.
