I'd rather they created a true TOTL competitor for the HD800/T1/Ortho line (even if I wouldn't buy it) -> get back the prestige they lost over time. That said, there is one other $900+ universal, the FI-BA-SS, IIRC.

I got to listen to the FI-BA-SS when I visited Jaben before. DEFINITELY not worth the price.... XD For $900+ I'd rather go for customs.
Kinda funny that a lot of people were expecting these to be full-sized headphones(K1000 successor). Let's just say a lot of people were disappointed... lol

I visited the AKG website again and saw that these are now available with or without a remote.

Just got a demo loaner of the K3003 - will post pics and impressions  over the the next 2 weeks

Sadly I cannot loan it out as it is 50k plus and has to go back to AKG 

If this beats my Merlin's I will eat my hat

The one I have seems to be wrapped in a very high quality leather case - looks looks like buckskin - best check the spec sheet on AKG's main website.

My take is it will be on analytical, on bright side of being neutral. If that indeed thrashes the bass quality and quantity and midrange presentation of your merlin then it's living up to its 50k tag price (though I still think it's overpriced!)

I hope for the presence of the Akg staff and even the BOSS and bring the K3003 even just for adornment (  ) and the K550 to test.
