just found my dad's old Sony DR-S5 :D I don't know if they still work though and the pads really need replacement :( maybe I can ask sir blackwing to recable these? :) or just sell them since I'm not that interested with it? :)

These are the ones that come with knobs on the cups to adjust the tone, right?

I love how those look. Are they aluminum?

Well the V6 dude never answered me :( Seems like my first legit Sony (I have the E818 but they don't count) shall be the Z1000 which I might buy  around when I visit you guys. Maybe after because I REALLY want an AT woody. Whatever happens happens, but I think the Z1000 has beat the Shures out in overall niceness. I'm bringing one of the two when I visit though for sure. ;)

Temporarily signing-in with JC's xb1000. 8)

Surprisingly, straight out of the iPod Touch, this can spikes at 1k-4k range :o
I need to EQ the midrange to -2 to -4db in order to get rid of the terrible spike, as I am listening to these cans using pop and rock (both doesn't fit, haha)

I was surprised as well that this doesn't have the generic V-shaped sound signature, its more like the mids are more forward than the lows, and the highs are kinda rolled-off. The bass of this can is really smooth and refined.. I like! :D

The comfort level is a dead giveaway, 100/10 comfort level. no need for further explanation.

This needs an amp that is not aggressive, more like laidback with an emphasis on the lows. Like the X02.
JC did the correct buy with the X02, which really fits with this bass monster ;)

Thats all for now *bows*

EDIT: I will be signing-in real soon with my own sony cans as well ;)

Well, I'm not poisoned with the cans. :P
I still prefer xb700. And if you want more bass content, try the lower versions like xb500 =)
I think everytime the model upgrades, the bass content lessens and becomes more refined bass instead of the BOOM BOOM tugs tugs tugs sound.

Gah, really? I want to hear this now then. They seem better than they seemed.

You should. :)
Just note of the annoying spike with vocals and guitar >:(

Got it! Well, I'm about to ask if which do your prefer(700 or 1000) but you already answered it "XB700" :P

Okay so I've finished listening with the XB1000s with different songs that ranges from the old-school popular car audio song (bone thugs and harmony - crossroads) to the new songs that emphasizes the bass like (justin ****** - baby). Listened to some techno/trance tracks like (jushi - requiem 'vectrex mix') to some of basshunter's songs. I've listened to some jpop/kpop songs and some early 2000 english songs as well and I conclude that the xb1000 has smooth and tight bass, forward (but not too forward mids), and dark-sounding highs.

Most songs are flac/wav and only few are 320kbps mp3 like Requiem (i think this is the only one)

XB1000 was paired with an iPod Touch 4th Gen with EQu for unamped testing, while..
iMod + Maverick audio A1 was tested with amp. PB1 Toucan sounds bad with this can, which is the opposite of xb700 lol.
I also tried PC > ENMA as pass through > Mav Audio A1 for this as well as I have more songs in the computer. :)

EDIT: Yeah this can is really bad for songs with electric guitars and lively female vocals. haha.. But it sounds darn good with SNSD songs rofl

btw, i'd like a turn with your es10 too bro. haha.

Poisoned one, can you tell if this will be the best bass monster HP/cans :D

i'd say purely for bass yes, but i still prefer kalikot's es10 with his new cables
