hmmm.. i'm not sure if that's a good idea from audeze, but if they can come up with a competitive price then why not ...

I have to agree with Makubexxx here, for the Audez'e duo to do so would be like shooting themselves in the foot. Anyways, I believe the bulk of the manufacturing cost actually goes to the drivers, not the shell/casing. Just look at HiFiMan, when they went from gorgeous wood to el'cheaper plastic, they just added an "LE" to their HE-5 but still asked for the same MSRP. The "LE" by the way stands for "Luxury Edition"... why? I honestly don't know. Perhaps to some folks, plastic is more luxurious than wood. ::)

And I thought the LE stands for Limited Edition. Wood designs is always luxurious for me.

What I hope for is Audez'e make the next head-fi tribute headphones, still wood (maybe little brother of LCD2) :)

^At its present state, it seems that Audez'e still doesn't have the same manufacturing capacity as Grado's to afford a limited run Head-Fi can a'la HF-1 and HF-2. Well, they could redesign the casing a bit, but I would presume it'd cost more than what it is.

LE does stand for Limited Edition.

As in, that edition of the HE-5 was limited by budgetary concerns and thus ended up with cheap plastic instead of wood!

I would buy the HE5 original for science and keep it in a dry box :P But I hear the sibilance on the HE5 was a bit much.
