Audeze LCD3???

I read in another forum that Audeze has a working LCD3 prototype.

I can't believe how excited I got reading that. I heard that they may not be made of wood (sorry Racio  )

Anyone hear anything else about this?

Trust me you will want to keep the LCD2's. I'm sure it will be a while for the LCD3 and it will be different.  The LCD2 may be a good investment because of the wood.

Perhaps the LCD-3 is a much smaller and cheaper version like RS-1 and the RS-2 ?

This was inevitable and depending on the outcome, something I would consider buying... but I am sure it will still be an open design.

I wonder if the move away from wood is a response to the 2 month waiting times on the lcd-2. They never seemed to be able to resolve that issue for individual orders, though perhaps at the expense of bulk orders from distributors?

Anyway if the lcd-3 is to hit mainstream I hope they have stock this time round and a customer service help desk.

The can I want is the LCD2, not the LCD3, which is still an unknown. So for now I will stick with LCD2.

I thought they've been in prototype mode for a while.

And I'm probably buying a high end orthodynamic this year. This or the HE500. Or the Fostex T50V1 or its variants. If this is just a smaller LCD2, it'd make me pretty happy.

The HE500 at $899 does peak me interest though I would be kind of sad if they ended the wood theme in the lcd-3. However if they go back to plastic that would mean a definite expansion of their production capabilities, perhaps outsourcing to increase capacity to meet demand.

The HE range does prove though that plastic can sound great and look great
