Audez’e is proud to introduce the LCD-2s designed for Recording / Mixing Engineers as reference headphones and the audiophiles and music enthusiasts.
The LCD-2s are in production and will start shipping to customers on May 10th. We are in the process of contacting people who have emailed / pre-ordered the headphones.

The LCD-2 housing is designed and custom built from hand selected Caribbean Rosewood. It is built to enhance the quality of the sound and offers a unique coloration and graining. The LCD-2 ear pads are designed to optimally recreate the entire pro audio frequency range. The sloped ear pad design allows us to faithfully reproduce the detail and clarity to the bass, midrange and the treble. The ear pads are made of premium lambskin leather with specially selected foam to offer the right amount of firmness.

Just had an interesting series of email exchanges with one of the duo who masterminded the creation of the LCD-2, Alex Rosson. I guess that was sort of rare since they're known to be not very "talkative" in correspondences. I asked them what does "LCD" stands for, their answer was surprisingly not deep at all. He said that they thought that given their planar drivers are totally flat, hence, they came up with "LCD", as in LCD tellys. hehe. I kinda' felt bad about it so I lent them my own denotation of what it means... "Lord of all Cans, the Dominus". I guess he liked it because he asked my permission to use it on their website from here on end. haha!

I wish! But I highly doubt it bro. hehe.   Do you know that they're such in demand at Head-Fi, people there are offering $100-$200 over the retail to existing LCD-2 owners just for them not to wait 2-3 months to get their own pair?

I wonder if the price of these will ever go down a few years down the line? I get the feeling it'll be one of those cans that will actually become more expensive down the road.

Pretty sure with the kind of unique design and sound signature it will go down same route with the old Wooded ATH's well not that much since with Audeze success on Can jam and the hype it generates on Headfi it wont take long for an LCD-3

Im also tempted to buy this beast but i just pretend my HE5 to be the better. well just to avoid another funding

I've serious skepticism that the Audez'e duo have any plans to make an LCD-3 soon, for up until now, they have yet to satisfy the long queue for the LCD-2, I reckon that at the rate their going, it'll take them 'till next year to do this. Please remember they're running a mere backyard business here, they certainly won't follow A-T's approach (not to mention HiFi-Man's) in marketing multiple product lines and offering new models one after the other, simply because they can't. 

Their LCD-1 went on a very limited run and used off-the-shelf components, perhaps it was their way of testing the waters if indeed their conceptual planar driver design works (and it did!). They actually have an offer for existing LCD-1 owners an exclusive discount on the LCD-2 for being "guinea pigs" is you will, yep, similar to what Fang offers to existing HE-5/HE-5L owners for the uber expensive gold-lined HE-6.

Likewise. And if they keep doing this well, I won't be surprised if one day they'll get a visit from one of the head honchos from Harman Kardon or perhaps even Sony and offer a buy-out. hehe.

Truth be told, I had my eye on the HE-5 when it came out late last year, and eagerly followed online owners' reviews on them. Then when its replacement was announced a few months after, I was corresponding with Fang's lady assistant asking when will they release the HE-5L. And when it did come out, needless to say, I was really disappointed they had to let go of the wooden chambers and had to settle with plastic due to wood cracking issues and I tried to convince them to still offer the HE-5L in wood in spite of the known problems.

I'm just amazed how fast Fang changed models in just a span of 4 months. And looking at the pace he's going, I reckon he'll be announcing an HE-7 by the end of the year.
