I'm not really an audiophile in a strict sense so take my opinion with a grain of salt. But I have to say that the Fiio E7 works wonderfully with my Grado SR80i. I normally have it at the EQ 1 setting. For desktop purposes, the Fiio E7/E9 DAC/amp combo make beautiful music with my SR80i. I use the 1/4 adapter to plug it into the 1/4 output, and put the gain on high. Great for rock music and vocals IMO.  ;D

I'll agree with this. The E7 sounds great with entry level Grados like the SR80 and the MS1, and also sounds awesome even with higher end ones like the HF2. Currently using my E7 with an HF2 so i can attest. Upgrade to the E9 and the HF2's mids become magical.

  • Poison is the Path to The Dark Side...
I just resurrected one of the CMOY projects, and attached the bare circuit to my headphone stand so I can use it to burn in my SR80 further, and when i plugged my cans in - I was blown away - this amp gave so much solid definition to my cans! I compared it with my other amps, and this one still wins. Maybe it's because this circuit doesn't have a volume control on it, so it's really throwing it's maximum power at my cans (forgive me, I'm not quite sure of my explanation), but as of the moment, this is my favorite amp for my Darth Magnum. ;D

I sense much Poison in you...

hi guys. i got a fiio e11 hooked up to my sr125i. the thing is, i can't seem to notice any improvement in terms of detail or clarity. i just got a louder headphone imo. could it be that the phones are just not yet "burned in" properly as they are quite new or am i just expecting too much? thanks guys.

Maybe it's because you'renew to the whole "amplifier" thing.  If it's your first time to hear an amp you wont really notice the details imidiately but after about a week of continious use you'll never be able to use your setup without an amp :)

thanks for that jolo. youre right about me being new to this amplifier thing for headphones. i just bought this amp based on reviews i found in the internet and since it was readily available, i bought it right after i got my headphones. question, are they a good match? tia

It's for me to judge wether they're a right match b,cause everyone likes a different sound which is why there is no "perfect" setup. But the warmness of Fiio and the brightness of any Grado balances it out.

Didnt you at least notice the additional bass?

open your cans up and vent! but then again, it's somewhat irreversible so... ;D
i really liked RS1is with the SR71b in balanced. to these ears, they sounded better than with my LDI+.
