I saw these in a Yodobashi 2 years back when I went to Tokyo. There was a little accompanying brochure with it and it (apparently) uses vibrations in direct contact with the mastoid bone in order to reproduce most of the lows that seem to be coming from out of nowhere. Personally, I find it a little over-the-top and slightly far fetched - but the demo unit I tried sounded quite airy, as I recall. Alas, the testing area wasn't exactly ideal (very noisy place), so I could hardly appreciate the reference music being played out of them. Still, it's a pretty interesting idea, but so innovative and novel that it'd probably make its mark as just another crazy idea. D:
