A first for headphiles and a first for the Philippines (?) i present to you the now collectors edition (stopped making them):

Sony PFR-V1, or simply

"yeah baby doing it for science!!"

Initial meet impression - no isolation, speaker like effect, positioning important for sq, nice sound stage when used with wired accompanying mini amp (better than our own go vibe and mini3 amp sound staging but can be daisy chained for maximum effect), hard to drive - these need power - cue the ef5! :P The bass coil when covered by my thumb has huge bass increase but less detail so mod potential a plenty.

So far a great science project  ;D

More impressions over the weekend because as always when I get a new gear I am coming down with a cold...  :-\

thanks bro!

Joma and I said this also when we unboxed it in starbucks, bigger than we thought they would be, no isolation but not as intrusive as we had expected - its like you are havign a regular conversation and their is music in the shop from speakers or amp it up and you have an amazing effect of speaker like sq and the background noise fades away... got to try these with movies some night  ;D

@Dinkoy - yeah finally hehe... worth the wait, very intriguing purchase and will be explored with every daisy chain possible lol

Pity the venue was on the noisy side. The chatter next to our table didn't help either.

That aside, this "personal ear speaker system" is something that blew me away at first listen.

Why oh why didn't this get a cult following?!  :P

Its actually quite good Racio hehe.. the science bit was in the ordering based on the umpteen reviews I did before, but the result at least on initial impression seems to veer towards excitement and satisfaction :)

From the description, it seems to me that they have more or less the same concept as the K1000. :D

I've actually read about these cans when they came out years ago, the main gripe about them among owners is that they sound extremely bright, and the bass duct, many felt, were somewhat of an after thought on its design. Mod that sucker bro! ;D

It really is not as bright as they say, the bright comes more from the stax like implementation of sound delivery meaning bass slam is low initially, however by just pressing my thumb over the bass coil very lightly I can increase my bass eq massively meaning my hands are my eq lol...

Now this is why I want those grommets  ;D

Joma and I found the sound to be more on the warm side, non fatiguing highs and good mids, the bass is actually ok, tight and there when you need it but with just a hint of modding these cans I think should shine.

Burn in might alter the sq also.

yeah some call it the mini aky k1000 but I am not sure that would be a f air comparison. I would sure like to try a/b'ing them both some time just to see is a $150 unit can beat a 1k$+ unit  ;D probably not though haha
