By the way, I would just like to contribute to the stax brightness issue... I guess not all staxen are created equal because my 202s werent bright at all. Maybe slightly more aggressive and forward than the hd600s I had at the same time but it didn't have the treble extension and top end air of the hd600s.

Great read Marucs, hails for this awesome acquisition! Just when I thought I'd forgotten about my Stax lust from heard Doc Bern's Lambdas...  ;D

I'm eager to try it out at the Thrilla in Manila meet, I hope we can hook it up to a CD player + DAC. Stax headphones are the best I've heard yet for music with the ultra-complex passages like technical death metal, their full impact is unleashed by the electrostatic fury.

I agree, metal guitar work is just da bomb for this kind of headphone, the shredding on some power metal is so powerful compared to my 'regular' cans.

If you can bring a cd player I can hook it up to my mav dac d1 and stax amp/phones - ready to rumble (though you can try with my vaio cd player drive also if ok)

Guys also bring your own cloth pls since extended time on the plether can lead to sweating and that is yucky for the next user lol

so Marcus will you still be upgrading your dynamic setup now that you have your stax?

it's turning out to be an all-in-one solution for me. it sounds technically superior in everything over my dynamics. even if the bass of the dt990 is better in quantity, the stax gives it a texture that makes it more realistic...

how are things going on at your end? :)

nope not going to touch dynamic upgrades ;)

I have other plans now that I cleared out my dynamic range of cans lol

The d1 is certainly a richer DAC than the udac and gives the stax a better footing overall. Cutting down on the chain is likely to be the main factor I think.

I am starting to think though I need an IEM also, not sure to go for a cheap one like the aiaiai swirl for the house sq i so like or something high end.

I will deliberate for a while on this I think.

Still need that a1 amp so have to let go of the dot MK2 soon.

I shall regret this but I think i will aim lowish for the IEM's simply because for mobility I value longevity and fun ;)

the mav a1 is the only one I will get simply because I have it's sister the d1 and they deserve to be paired together :)

whohoo will wait for your reviews then :)

will you be getting a bassy one to complement the stax? or another detail heavy, analytical iem? :)

interested how your audio journey will be after a stax setup :)
