As for the Stax Lambda Pro and the SRM-1/MK-2, the pairing with the Buffalo II DAC was a Royal Marriage of sorts! Extremely intricate detail resolution brought out a lot of pops and crackles and hisses that I wasn't able to hear very clearly before. Even my sister was impressed with the DAC, although she heard it paired with the speakers. The Ne-Yo album she always listened too had considerable static noise on some tracks especially the heavy favorites but she didn't mind. I do though, and they are pretty annoying. On the Stax this is quite magnified compared to the speakers.
I did mention previously over the Buffalo II DAC thread that this partnership was treble hot, but as for my original intent to pair these components together last year, it is a grand success! I wanted to create an extremely detailed setup worthy of the Stax Lambda Pro, but it turned out the Buffalo II DAC is a much better piece of equipment than what we ever envisioned it to be. And right now it is too good even for the Stax right here

I would just like to add that even if detail resolution was my target in this combination, the sound was very much impressively enjoyable. The DAC is generally believed to be very neutral sounding, while the Stax Lambda Pro had treble exaggeration but still otherwise mostly neutral. Giving the Lambda Pros a good and detailed neutral source actually produced great enjoyable audio, and not some boring type of sound which was what I was a bit dreading on the back of my mind. Neutral is still very much enjoyable and fun to listen to as long as the equipment is good, and I think the LCD-2 and the Stax 02 are great examples of that even though I haven't been able to hear them out. These Lambda Pros, even while having a dearth of musicality, and paired with a neutral source, can still rock out!
Not bad for ancient equipment, haha!
