Maybe the high end AKG's like the K70x series are still made in Austria but with Chinese laborers? Is that even possible?

are the price drops of akg in amazon (e.g. k701) attributed to them being made in china? anybody ordered akg from amazon lately?
Nobody is perfect... That is of course until you fall in love with them...

AFAIK K70X and Q701 are still made in Austria. just got my K701 last december from amazon and still has the Made in Austria silkscreened on the phones.

Maybe my theory is correct that they have chinese laborers there in Austria. LOL

Guess I'm going to be buying a K242HD made in China, the price is down to $107 at Thomann's in Europe.

This is probably (hopefully) an isolated case, but it doesn't say much for the QC in AKG's factories in China:

Well, at least they're sending him new earpads.

It's not an isolated case.  I've noticed the same flimsy ear pad manufacturing, even in the model that JBL has for audition in Megamall.  What kinda weirded me out was that weird "chip" in the plastic rim after he removed the ear pad.  Me being the K242HD junkie that I am, I'm pretty sure that there is no such chip in the housing...

And what do you know, he gets a gold plated 1/4" adapter.  The latest MIC boxes have silver adapters... more cost cutting, I believe.
